tfd May Ball

“a great evening!”

tfd’s 2010 Ball was hosted this year at Milton Hill House in Steventon on 8th May. Guests & tfd staff enjoyed an evening of delicious food, a cocktail quiz, cocktail jellies and dancing to live music until midnight. Many guests made the most of the weekend and stayed overnight at the hotel. “We met some lovely people on our table and lots of new people I normally just pass by in the changing rooms. A great evening, thank you tfd!”

80’s gym disco with themed ‘keep fit’ classes

Disco fever at tfd in January to shake off those Christmas blues!

Resident DJ played mix of classic 80’s music between 6pm and 9pm. It could have been 25 years earlier with the disco lights, spinning mirror ball, shoulder pads, permed hair and leg warmers…. and that was just the DJ!

All the staff and members wore their very best 80’s keep fit outfits for the classes and gym workouts. Claire started the party with a retro style spinning class, then Elaine took to the floor with a Dirty Dancing keep fit class and Monica finished off with a classic 80’s style legs, bums & tums class with original music! Carolyn from Wantage said “What a great evening, the classes worked me hard and we had a great laugh!”

3km Challenge

The TFD 3km Gym Challenge
Tfd gym challenges are great for personal challenge. This short challenge was great to train for as you could one or all of the four events. Martin Sheen won the overall event with Dale Faircloth in second place and Nick Caunter in third place. Everyone who took part received a tfd 2009 challenge t-shirt & the winner took away a bottle of champagne to celebrate with. Keep an eye on the gym notice board for other challenges – it’s the taking part that counts & helps keep you motivated too!

tfd 2009 superstars challenge

Claire’s team win the 2009 Superstars in the tie breaker giant sack race!
For the second year running, the tfd Superstar event was a fantastic success with five teams, captained by tfd’s owners & instructors. This years event took place on Thursday 22nd October in the main gym area and brought out the competitive team spirit in everyone! Some members who took part last year were familiar with the line up of events but the final ‘surprise event’ was new to everyone!

Given the evening was ever so slightly competitive, instructors & organisers of the event, Dave & Steffi set a new challenge to finish the evening off which required more team skills than brut force! The giant sack race was also used in the tie breaker between Claire’s white team & Steffi’s yellow team! It all started well for Steffi as the white’s couldn’t stop laughing. Once the yellows faltered once they lost their rhythm and the whites hopped on past to their first year of victory winning the tfd Superstars glass trophy & a bottle of champagne which will be saved for the presentations at tfd’d Cheese & Wine evening on Friday 13th November. Each participant took away their 2009 team t-shirts and a few aching muscles the following day!

Well done to all the participants and thank you to all the counters & spectators who came out to support the teams on the night!

Cheese & Wine evening at tfd

Another well received evening at tfd with lots of cheese & wine to choose from. The wine tasting was successful with some members presenting their own wines for everyone to have a taste. We still haven’t discovered who brought the ‘Hock’ but we won’t rest until we do! Member awards included the first ‘Gym Bingo’ winner, Emmy Akin, Alison Chaplin for ‘Member of the Year 2009’ & Billy Stevens won the ‘Most Achieved Member 2009’.

The first viewing of the Grand Event on the Park DVD was shown during the evening and was a great reminder of all the fun and laughter on the day.
